From the beginning…
…and it came to pass there was a gentleman by the name of Mr. Sterling Wagner. Mr. Wagner taught for eleven years in the New York State College of Forestry at Syracuse, New York, after which, in 1941, he came home to the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania to take charge of his family homestead; a mere 2,500 acres in all. About the month of April in the year of 1963 Mr. Sterling Wagner sold 1,158 acres to a developer from New Jersey. His name was Lois Larson, Sr. and Mr. Larson called his new develop his acreage. While Louis and John were in charge of selling these properties a third son, Joseph, (who had been in the Army and stationed in Germany) returned home and immediately took his position alongside his brothers in charge of all home construction. Henceforth, the land was subdivided into approximately 1,600 properties.
In April of 1970 the members of Locust Lake Village found themselves in a financial position to purchase their community from the developer. Plans and ideas continued. An Application was presented to the Court of Common Pleas of Monroe County and when approved procedures moved forward and first Board of Directors had been recruited. They had been recruited at least until the election of their successors would come about. Thus Locust Lake Village Property Owners Association was born. The term of its existence is perpetual!
